Ashland, Wisconsin located at the southern tip of Lake Superior is where I will lay my head tonight. It was a great day, beautiful weather and my GPS worked great.
I finished listening to CS Lewis’ Mere Christianity. It was amazing. I need to listen to it 10 more times and perhaps then I can absorb a small portion of the depth of what he says. How ironic that even as we talk at Tapestry about being real Lewis talks continually about the real self, the self that can only find it’s true identity in Christ.
I learned another lesson today. Not the sunscreen lesson, I make sure to paste it on at every stop. I still look like a raccoon. No, this lesson was more painful. As the day ended I found myself getting agitated with people who were slowing me down. I wanted to get to my destination at a certain time. I felt the Father tug at my heart and say Bob I thought you wanted to enjoy this ride with me, instead you’re trying to conquer it. Well, pray for me that I will enjoy the ride tomorrow and not shoot for some arbitrary time to be at my next destination.
I do pray for my family as I ride along. I also listened to a podcast by Donald Miller about, Story, I want our whole family to listen to it together sometime. Perhaps at our next Bible study.
love, dad

Hey Bob…
I saw a few bikes on the road today and prayed for you. It is so good to know that you continue to seek to be changed and molded by the Lord and that when we are willing….he is faithful. I’ve been learning a BUNCH this last couple weeks too and look forward to having a coffee with you when you get home. In light of your most recent post….I will pray that you continue to feel and ENJOY the Lord’s presence with you on your bike…..
Ya know…your post reminded me of something….when we first got our new Trailblazer, Max was kinda thrilled with it and even more so that it was a 4 x 4. The first Sunday we took it to Tapestry, there were snow banks out front and Max flipped the truck in to 4by and went OVER the curb/snow banks, parking lot divider thingy….and someone saw him and rolled down their window and said, “Hey MAX….would JESUS do that?”…to which my quick witted husband replied….”He would if he had a 4 x 4!”
But isn’t that true? We need to delight in Him but he also delights in US. He is THRILLED to ride along with you on your bike and talk with you as you go and listen to your heart and dreams….just as much as you delight in YOUR sons and beam with pride as you watch their eyes light up when they are telling you about something they enjoy doing. God is with you (cuz you invited him along)…and enjoying it!…and therefore it’s one of the most spiritual things you and Him could do together. I am so glad that you took this opportunity to go on a road trip with your Abba Dad!
You are a blessing to us Bob…and reading your posts is a blessing too….but please remember….God created you to be so many things….none of which resemble furry, black and white, drunk rodents!!!
Many Blessings!
Lynda
